Seriously. Fuck cops and their thinking that they can do whatever they want on the road.

I don't know the circumstances, but a lot of calls that police officers run on dictate that they don't run full Code 3 (lights and sirens). A robbery, a panic alarm, etc. Basically, any time that sirens might turn a situation worse.

It's illegal as hell if they weren't going to a call.

I'm not sure what your complaining about unless...didn't you know that the police have a different set of rules than the rest of us? oh man....rookie mistake.

I was sitting at a light once, about ten cars back from the light on a narrow back road, and a cop came up behind me, sat there for a couple of seconds, and then threw his lights on (no siren), went flying down the other side of the road (where traffic would be turning a blind right and would have had no chance to swerve away) to take a left and then shut down his lights and drove off like everything was normal.

That annoyed me.

As Pat said, many times cops don't want to alert they are coming a la robberies etc. In order to get there fast enough without alerting people they need to do what you just witnessed.

That isn't to say some cops are assholes and do that without being on a call, but honestly where have they to go while working that they would run a red anyway? They use stoplights to check plates a lot, so sometimes stoplights are an opportunity.

She wasnt going any faster than would be normal for the roads she was on. It really just looked like she didnt wanna stop, not that she was going anywhere.

That's not that far off from what I saw today.

If you see it happen again, take down the car's number and report it to PD (non-emergency number). She might be on a call, but if she wasn't, her superiors need to know about it.
